Features 16 Orange County Churches -Interfaith council to host 4th annual
Thanksgiving event -Irvine Mormons and Muslims break their
fasts together while learning more about each others' traditions. -Conversation: a Mormon/Evangelical dialogue
at Mariners Church -Annual ‘Hearts and Hands’
event brings people from all faiths to help community, impoverished
areas of the world. -Seven Orange County religious choirs
performed songs from their own faiths for the annual Thanksgiving
Interfaith Choir Festival, held at the LDS Church in Irvine. -Savior of the World productions were
held in Orange and Laguna Niguel throughout November and December,
2008. The production depicted the scriptural account of Jesus Christ’s
birth and resurrection. “It’s a helpful way to let our
friends and neighbors know what we believe as a Church," says
and LDS Church official. 2007 -One of the Church’s foremost authorities
on Islam, Daniel Peterson, spoke to more than 900 Muslims and Mormons
who turned out for his lecture on the relationship between these
two world religions. -About 200 LDS youth and adult leaders
represented the Church at the Oct. 20, 2007 Interfaith Service Day
and Festival, organized by the Orange Catholic Diocese. The event
brought together OC teens of many faiths to renovate Centennial
Park in Santa Ana. -LDS Church members throughout Orange
County attended Open Mosque Day in August, 2007 at three locations
in Anaheim and Irvine. Visitors to the mosques learned about the
religious and cultural aspects of Islam while enjoying cuisine and
making new friends. -Members of the Mariners Church
and the LDS Church in Orange County assembled together for "Conversation"
events, hosted by Mariners Church, in which leaders from both faiths
engaged in a dialogue for attendees to witness. Those engaged in
the dialogues included Robert Millet of BYU and Craig Hazen of Biola.
